MIDWEST ENERGY PLOW FEEDER

AMI was contracted by Midwest Energy Resources Company (MERC) to assist in their plow feeder hydraulics and controls upgrade. Through extensive drawing research and field verification, AMI produced a detailed 3D SolidWorks model of the plow feeder system. This 3D model was then used to produce detailed drawings that would be issued for bidding purposes. These drawings also included all specifications for the hydraulics upgrade. AMI worked directly with MERC staff and maintenance personnel to gather key information on how to improve the functionality and maintenance of the hydraulic system.

Due to the new hydraulic configuration, modifications to the plow feeder frame were necessary. AMI performed a complete finite element analysis on the hydraulic reservoir structure. SolidWorks was used to accomplish this structural analysis by producing detailed stress and deflection plots of the frame.

AMI was also responsible for the electrical and controls upgrade of the plow feeder system. Although a majority of the electrical engineering and design work was subcontracted, AMI was still involved with many aspects of the electrical system and was responsible for reviewing the design to ensure a quality product was achieved.
