Mechanical Engineering

At AMI, we keep excellent client service at the forefront of all we do. By listening to our clients and understanding their needs, our mechanical engineering team utilizes technical problem solving, personal creativity and practical experience to address those needs with creative and innovative solutions. We strive to apply the best use of advanced technology in our analysis, modeling and design. AMI taps into the depth and insight of past practices to meet present day needs of our client’s challenges. From simple plumbing designs to complex machinery upgrades involving integration of historical equipment with advanced technologies, our team is eager to help you successfully navigate the challenges you are facing within your organization.

Process System Design

From single pump systems to multiple pumps and equipment, AMI is capable of designing a process system tailored to your application. We can provide design documents from process flow diagrams and P&ID’s to full 3D modeling of the entire system. Utilizing solid engineering with state-of-the-art tools such as AutoCAD, Solidworks and AutoCAD Plant 3D, AMI provides our partners with the solution that meets the needs of their requirements.

Project Management

Equally as critical as a well thought through design is the successful installation and operation of the system itself. Our team is composed of “hands on” engineers that understand the critical nature of getting the job accomplished, on budget and on time. Whether it is a one day or a one year project, we strive to meet the goals and objectives of our clients through managing the project from start to finish at the capacity level required by the client.

Material Handling

AMI engineers work together across disciplinary lines to address the material handling needs of our clients. From facility and process layout to lifting, rigging design and rating, we address our clients’ specific requirements. We work to address material handling design needs with conveying system design and layout, chute design, bulk material processing, dust collection and product storage and handling.

Industrial Duct & Piping

From new designs to retrofits of existing systems, AMI engineers design to address the needs of our clients. We offer ducting and equipment layout, design, as well as sizing for dust collection, combustion air and other process air needs. We also design industrial liquid and gas transfer systems. To assure accurate construction, we utilize 3D modeling of equipment and structures for collision free routing of ducts and pipes, and provide detailed piece and assembly drawings suitable for fabrication.

Commercial Mechanical Design

Utilizing professional software tools including AutoCAD and Revit to interface with architectural plans, our mechanical design team works to address the needs of our client’s HVAC and plumbing systems for residential and commercial buildings, restaurants and health care facilities. Professionally licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin, we are experienced with a variety of systems including hydronic and forced air heating/cooling, demand controlled ventilation and energy recovery ventilation systems.

Machine Design

AMI offers a variety of machine design services to accommodate our client’s needs. Utilizing 3D CAD modeling software, we assist our clients with accurate 3D modeling for layout and design of mechanical, hydraulic and structural machine components. We offer Finite Element Analysis (FEA) services to analyze machine components for stress, strain, buckling, fatigue, thermal, vibration and more. We also assist our clients with mechanical component selection, design and layout for power transmission systems.
