NETT LAKE & NEW MOON HOUSING

AMI was selected to design and prepare drawings and specifications for New Moon’s 20-unit, 9-400-sq. ft. supportive housing development for the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa reservation located in Tower, Minnesota. New Moon is a supportive housing development near Fortune Bay, including six duplexes with 12 units and an apartment complex with eight units, a laundromat, a multipurpose room, and a smaller conference room.

The structural design of the duplexes had significant challenges due to the LEED requirements utilizing insulation barriers that prevented standard frame construction. AMI had to design unique anchoring systems for the wood frame to concrete foundation connections and worked closely with the contractors for a timely and cost-effective method. AMI also provided construction observation services during this project.

AMI also designed and prepared drawings and specifications for six new duplexes in the Pineview housing development at Nett Lake for the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa reservation. The structural foundation design also had significant challenges due to the LEED requirements utilizing insulation barriers that prevented standard frame construction. AMI utilized the same unique anchoring systems for the wood frame to concrete foundation connections and worked closely with the contractors for a timely and cost-effective method as part of their construction observation services.
