Structural Engineer 5-8 Years’ Experience

Are you a structural engineer with building design experience that is seeking an opportunity to use your strengths and manage various projects while further developing your engineering skills?

AMI Consulting Engineers, PA is currently seeking a skilled Structural Engineer with expertise in heavy industrial projects, particularly those involving concrete structures to join our team in the Superior, WI or St. Paul, MN office.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing structural designs on a wide range of projects, including new construction, additions, and modifications to existing structures.  This candidate must have a strong desire to expand their knowledge and skill in marine structural engineering, including hands-on training and specialization in the design, analysis, and construction of marine structures.

 

Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with impeccable follow through while taking ownership of each project assigned. The successful candidate must have experience in serving the engineering needs of clients by providing exceptional professional service. They should be passionate about their work, enjoy variety and like problem solving.  This candidate should also be team oriented, honest, and have a helpful disposition with a positive “can-do” attitude. Travel and field work will be required to complete projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage structural engineering projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Provide technical direction for the coordination, planning and execution of engineering projects including new construction, additions and modifications to existing buildings and general structures.

  • Prepare or assist with proposals, track budgets and schedules, and workload forecasting.

  • Perform structural design and analysis for heavy concrete structures, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Prepare and review structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Specialize in the design, analysis, and construction of marine structures, coastal infrastructure, and underwater installations through hands-on training and applying engineering principles.

  • Perform site visits, collect field data, perform research and analysis, and prepare field reports.

  • Review contractor submittals during construction for conformance to construction document requirements.

  • Preparation of construction cost estimates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (do you require an SE license?)

  • 5-8 years’ experience in the design of structural components and systems including concrete, masonry, steel, wood, cold formed steel, precast concrete, etc.

  • Proficiency in structural design software: SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, RAM, MathCAD, AutoCAD and REVIT.

  • Strong interest in learning marine structural engineering through formal training and hands-on experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter, results driven.

Additional Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous coursework or experience in marine structural engineering is a plus.

Compensation:

Wage and benefits package is dependent upon qualifications and experience of candidate. This position is eligible for the full company benefits package including:
